When I compare the calculated shipping costs using a UPS service and compare them to ups.com, the two numbers don't agree.  What's going on?

The discrepancy is due to 'UPS Daily' rates being compared to 'UPS On Demand' rates.  Daily rates refer to rates in which UPS picks packages up from a shipper every day.  On-demand rates are for sellers that pack and ship their own items.  You can read more about the distinction here: http://pages.ebay.com/ups/faq.html.

What this means is that on the eBay.com site, if a seller has set their shipping preference to 'On-demand' or 'daily', you should be sure to take this preference into account when calculating the shipping rate on the ups.com website.  In general, on-demand rates are higher than daily rates.
